Shuvu holds its Annual Bar and Bas Mitzvah Celebrations!
After not being able to have a Bar and Bas Mitzvah celebration last year due to the pandemic, we B"H were "back in business" this year, with extremely inspiring events! The Bas Mitzvah took place in Bnei Brak, with 300 girls from cities from Akko until Be'er Sheva. We were honored to have Rav Eliezer Sorotzkin, Director of the Chinuch Atzmai participate in the event and address the girls. The girls heard Divrei Torah, participated in Hafrashas Challah, sang spiritual songs in the dark with lit candles, made Bakashos, watched a recorded message by Rebbetzin Leah Kolodetzky (Reb Chaim Kanievsky's daughter), and performed Kabbalas Ol Malchus Shamayim. They also had a special program whereby the girls took Kabbalos upon themselves. It was truly heartwarming seeing the girls stepping up and announcing that they'll no longer use their phones on Shabbos, will only eat food with a good Hechsher, will be Makpid on Brachos and Benching, more Makpid on Tznius, and more. The girls also enjoyed a Seudas Mitzvah, participated in a special dancing program, and received gifts of a beautiful necklace, and a beautiful Siddur donated by Mrs. Rika Knopf in memory of her husband, Mr. Max Knopf zt"l, Shuvu's Founding Chairman. Just several days later 200 boys who became Bar Mitzvah over the course of the year gathered together in the Shirat Yerushalayim Halls in Jerusalem, to celebrate their special day. We were Zoche to have a particularly impressive dais, including Shuvu's Nasi in Eretz Yisroel Harav Chaim Walkin Shlita, members of Shuvu's Nesius in Eretz Yisroel Harav Ben Zion Kook Shlita and Harav Shlomo Buso Shlita (grandson of the Baba Sali), Director of the Chinuch Atzmai Harav Sorotzkin, Mr. Mark Frankel, and the keynote speaker: Hagaon Harav David Yosef Shlita, son of Maran Harav Ovadia Yosef zt"l and a member of Moetzes Chachmei HaTorah. Harav Buso performed Kabbalas Ol Malchus Shamayim with the boys, and Harav Kook blessed them with Birkas Kohanim. We also enjoyed a special playback performance by the "Nekuda Tova" theater. The professional actors heard crowd participants tell their story, and then they acted it out in a very entertaining way. The Bar Mitzvah ended with a Seudas Mitzvah, distribution of Tefillin and Siddurim, and a very special Tefillas Mincha B'rov Am.
